Buying at the Auction Rooms.

Sales are held regularly and include antiques and collectables, and general household items. The sale can be viewed on the Friday prior, from 10-12 & 2pm - 4pm, Saturday prior, from 10am-12pm, Monday prior, from 9am-4pm or as otherwise shown on next sale page. A buyers premium is applicable to all lots. We will be pleased to advise purchasers on estimates for all lots, and to bid on their behalf if required. Arrangements can be made on behalf of the purchasers for delivery of lots bought at Kingsway Auction Rooms. Transport can also be arranged if required.


Selling at Auction.

We are pleased to assist any prospective vendor with assessment advice and sale, for individual lots or indeed complete estates. Items may also be brought to the Auction Rooms for assessment, free of charge. Arrangements for collection of any items can be made by us with a reputable local remover. There is likely to be a charge for this service. Commission is charged @ 15% [no vat] + 3 entry fee per lot.

SALE OF ELECTRICAL GOODS .

We have to comply with regulations regarding the auction of electrical items. Intended vendors must agree to having their items tested prior to being offered. The test fee is 3. The fee will be deducted from the proceeds of sale. If the item should fail the safety test it cannot be offered for sale, but the testing fee will still apply & the vendor will need to collect his/her goods before the auction. We apologize for any inconvenience regarding this legislation but we obviously have to operate within the law.

Complete House Clearance Service.

We can provide the complete clearance of a property if required, due to bereavement or other circumstances. All saleable lots are removed to the Auction Rooms and prepared for auction. China, glassware, silver, crockery, linen and similar items are carefully packed and transported by experienced removers. Any un-saleable lots remaining we will dispose of. Finally we can arrange for the property to be made clean and tidy, ready for sale.

 

Order of sale

Morning sales generally commence at 10am.

China, glassware, pottery,

Silver, jewellery, 

Pictures, mirrors,

Collectables, general household effects,

Afternoon sales generally commence at 2pm 

 Antique, reproduction & modern furniture.

 

CONDITIONS OF SALE

1] The highest bidder, if approved of, shall be the purchaser and if any dispute arises between two or more bidders, then the same shall be determined by the auctioneer, who shall also have the right of rejecting any bidding or of regulating its amount and of bidding for, on behalf of, withdrawing, consolidating or dividing any lots.

2] The bidding shall be at the discretion of the auctioneers. Unless agreed by the auctioneer, no person shall be allowed to retract his or her bids and all lots shall, at the fall of the hammer be at the sole risk and expense of their respective purchasers.

3] Purchasers may be required to give in their name and places of abode or business and may also be required to pay in cash a deposit of 25% or such further sum as the auctioneer may demand.

4] Purchasers may pay for and collect their lots following the completion of the sale and up to 5pm on that same day. All lots, however, should be collected no later than 4pm on the day following the sale.

5] The auctioneers will not be responsible for uncleared lots and should any of the lots not be cleared within the time specified above, the purchaser thereof hall be held liable to the auctioneers for the cost of cartage or other expense occasioned by such default and shall be liable for any deficiency which may arise on the resale of any such lot.

6] Any damage which may be done to the premises by taking down or removing any lot shall be made good at the expense of the purchaser and the auctioneers shall have a claim on such a lot or lots until the damage is made good.

7] No lot will be transferred from the original account of the purchaser as no purchaser shall have the right to avail him or herself of any set off or plea for non payment of his or her purchase money against the auctioneers or their principals. He or he will be liable to the auctioneers for any unpaid purchase money whether lots have been delivered or not.

8] The auctioneers or their principals will not hold themselves responsible for any accident or damage to life and limb which may occur prior to or during the viewing times, or progress of the sale or at any time during the removal of the lot, which must be entirely at the purchasers risk .

9] If any purchaser fails to comply with any of the foregoing conditions, the deposit money shall be forfeited and the lots re-sold as the auctioneers shall see fit. Any deficiency which may arise, together with all costs and charges attending such re-sale, or caused by such default, shall be paid by the defaulter who shall not be entitled to any surplus from such re-sale.

10] All sales shall be cash transactions unless prior arrangements have been made.

11] A buyers premium of 17.5%  will apply on all purchases.
